The Dista strip is made of hard plastic and is intended to prevent the stainless steel screws from shearing off. Shearing off is caused by the swelling and shrinking of the wood, which is known as working. The working off is particularly pronounced in the transverse direction of the planks. The wood "wants" to take the screw with it, while the lower part of the screw is still firmly seated in the substructure. Since hard and tropical wood is very hard due to its high density, the screw has no chance of pressing itself into the wood when it works. If the screw breaks off under this load, this is referred to as shearing off. The Dista strip was developed to prevent the stainless steel screws from shearing off. It creates a movement space of 13 mm between the substructure and the terrace board, which gives the stainless steel screws the opportunity to move.
