The ground HSS twist drill drills in metal with maximum precision. The self-centring drill point with cross-grinding and a point angle of 135 degrees enables perfect centring without wandering. The cross-ground drill point eliminates the need for centre-punching or pre-drilling up to 10 mm in diameter. This precision-ground HSS steel drill bit drills 40 % faster and requires 50 % less contact pressure than conventionally ground HSS drill bits. It is suitable for drilling holes in alloyed and unalloyed steel, cast steel, cast iron, sintered iron, malleable cast iron, non-ferrous metals and hard plastic. The shank is cylindrical (the shank diameter corresponds to the drill diameter). It is used with drill rigs and drill drivers.

The ground HSS twist drill is manufactured in accordance with DIN 338. It belongs to drill type N (small side chip angle) with a drill point of 135 degrees and diameter tolerance h8.
