The product is a combination of stabilising fruit acids and hydrogen peroxide, which overrides the protective mechanisms of the mould and destroys it from the inside out: The mould cells protect themselves from hydrogen peroxide through various enzymes found on the cell surfaces, among other things. The fruit acids they contain camouflage the hydrogen peroxide. It enters the interior of the cells as a kind of "Trojan horse", where it specifically kills the mould. Once the mould has been destroyed, the hydrogen peroxide is converted into oxygen and water.
